Working out of Terra Haute, Fr. Dan covers the western edge of the Archdiocese, including the West Deanery.
Who is your favorite saint?
St. Joseph was a quiet, humble man chosen by God to take care of the Holy Family. I see the priest in the same role.
If you could talk to anyone in the course of our history (dead or alive), who would it be and why?
There's so many to choose from! I'm a nerd like this, but I'd actually want to talk with JRR Tolkien, the author of Lord of the Rings. I'd love to pick his brain about his imagination, his writing, and of course, his love of the Catholic faith. His view of life and faith have been such an inspiration to me in my own life, I'd love to meet him in person!
What is your favorite thing to do as a priest? Do you have a favorite sacrament you like to administer? Why?
My favorite thing to do as a priest is celebrate Mass (which is also my favorite sacrament!). I also greatly enjoy visiting our students at the school and answering their questions.
What is your favorite past time or hobby?
I like playing video games, sports, and music. I enjoy reading and hunting.
Do you have a favorite Bible verse?
John 1:5 "A light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it."
Did anyone (priest, religious sister, friend, etc.) make an impact during your discernment?
Fr. John Nestor, who was a visiting priest at my parish when I was in high school. He was from Australia, and he gave the best homilies and was there for me when I needed to talk.
Any advice for someone discerning the priesthood or consecrated life?
Join! The best place to discern God's will is in the seminary or in a religious community.
