Why do you want to become a priest? Of course, to be able to bring Christ to others through the Sacraments, but also to be a representative of Christ and His Church in the happiest and the saddest moments of peoples' lives, accompanying them along the way.
Who is your favorite saint? St. Augustine of Hippo. The story of his life is a beautiful story to read, and he is also one of the greatest minds of the Church..
If you could talk to anyone in the course of our history (dead or alive), who would it be and why?
Ven. Fulton Sheen. He was not only a good and holy bishop, but a brilliant one at that! He knew multiple languages, wrote multiple books and pamphlets on all sorts of subjects from topics such as the Eucharist to Communism, all the while hosting his own radio and television show!
What is your favorite past time or hobby? I love to cook and bake things, but especially bread! I'm also an avid history lover (especially the Classical Period), and I always enjoy picking up a good book (or documentary) about Egyptian or Roman history.
Do you have a favorite Bible verse? "No trial has come to you but what is human. God is faithful and will not let you be tried beyond your strength; but with the trial he will also provide a way out, so that you may be able to bear it." (1Cor 10:13)
Did anyone (priest, religious sister, friend. etc.) make an impact on your decision to enter seminary?
My pastor during middle school, Msgr. Stumpf was always so joyful about his vocation, and he really was one major impetus for me to consider the priesthood.
What is your favorite form of prayer? The Rosary and spending time in front of the Blessed Sacrament are wonderful. They both provide a time to just be calm and be aware of the LORD's presence around you.
What is your favorite title of the Blessed Mother and/or Jesus? The Sacred and Immaculate Hearts of Jesus and Mary
Any advice for someone discerning the priesthood or religious life? If you don't have a clear idea of what your vocation is, don't worry! That is something that formation is supposed to help with-if you think you might have a specific vocation, don't be afraid to take the next step! After all, why would you actively discerning the LORD's will for you ever be a bad thing? Give your vocation to the Blessed Mother-she'll lead you on to where you need to go, like any good mother.
