Home Parish: Holy Rosary, Indianapolis Seminary: Bishop Simon Brute Seminary
Why do you want to become a priest? I want to become a priest because I want to grow in charity by laying down my life totally for the salvation of souls.
Who is your favorite saint & why? My favorite saint is Saint Thomas Aquinas because of how he responded with humility and devotion to his supernatural gift of understanding the faith. He never ceased defending the truth with clarity and charity, all the while drawing closer to the Incarnate Wisdom in the process. He testifies to how knowledge of the world and the Catholic faith can be an avenue to holiness.
What is your favorite quote?“ Men’s curiosity searches past and future, and lives in that dimension. But to apprehend the intersection of the timeless with time is an occupation of the saint. And no occupation either, but something given and taken in a lifetime’s death in love. Adrour and selflessness and self-surrender.” -T. S. Eliot
If you could talk to anyone in the course of our history (dead or alive), who would it be and why? I would talk to Jesus Christ because He is Eternal Wisdom in the flesh.
What is your favorite past time or hobby? I like to play tennis, the piano, sing, and read.
Do you have a favorite bible verse? Romans 5:5 - “And hope confoundeth not: because the charity of God is poured forth in our hearts, by the Holy Spirit, who is given to us.”
Did anyone (priest, religious sister, friend. etc.) make an impact on your decision to enter seminary? Absolutely! My parents and friends helped me see that priesthood was indeed something I desired. I was also inspired by many holy priests that I know, especially my pastor Fr. C Ryan McCarthy.
What is your favorite form of prayer? Eucharistic Adoration
What is your favorite title of the Blessed Mother and/or Jesus? Queen of the most Holy Rosary
Any advice for someone discerning the priesthood or religious life? Cultivate the virtue of courage in your life. You are never going to have absolute certainty that seminary is the right thing to do. Try to be the kind of man that can make decisions, even ones which require great commitments. If you notice yourself attracted to the priestly life, and others recognize gifts in you that match this vocation, be bold and take the next step. Trust that God will take care of you, and do not be afraid.
