I was part of a men's prayer group back in high school which had an huge influence on me and my discernment.

Any advice for someone discerning the priesthood or religious life? Have a healthy dose of both romance and reality; know yourself and your motivations. T.S. Elliot has a great line which he put on the lips of St. Thomas Becket: "The last temptation is the greatest treason, to do the right deed for the wrong reason."
