Mission Statement: The Sisters of Providence of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, Indiana, are a community of vowed Catholic women religious who collaborate with others to create a more just and hope-filled world through prayer, education, service and advocacy.
Prayer: Prayer is a vital outreach ministry of the Sisters of Providence. In addition to our rich individual and community prayer, we welcome pilgrims and visitors to pray at the sacred paces at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods: the Shrine of Saint Mother Theodore Guerin, Our Lady of Providence National Shrine, the Church of the Immaculate Conception and the Blessed Sacrament Chapel. You are welcome to join us for Sunday Mass at 11 a.m. and for Taizé prayer at 7 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month. We also offer Spiritual programming (retreats, workshops, presentations, book studies) and spiritual direction through Providence Spirituality & Conference Center at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods.
Ministry: Our sisters serve in a variety of ministries that fit each one's calling and talents. Many sisters serve people in need who might otherwise be forgotten. We serve in ministries such as education, social services, justice and advocacy, health care, parish and retreat work and more.
