We hope everyone is an advocate for vocations at some level, but Vocations Advocates take on a particular role in supporting vocations in the Archdiocese of Indianapolis. Vocations Advocates promote all vocations events and activities in their local parishes.
Many wonderful people pray for vocations on a daily baises. These individuals are a great gift to the church and we encourage their continued prayer. While these individuals are certainly building up the culture of vocations, being a Vocations Advocate calls for not only prayer but also action.
Special Note for Vocations Committees
Some parishes have a Vocations Committee where many members come together to advocate for vocations in their communities. This can be a wonderful model as it gets more people involved in sharing the load. If you are in a community with a Vocations Committee, we request one member of the committee be designated as the Vocations Advocate. Our intention is not to exclude individuals who wish to be Advocates, but rather to facilitate easier communication and reduce multiple mails. Once we have communicated to the Advocate, we would expect the advocate to share the information with the larger committee.
